Today I visited the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art to view one of their current shows: From Houdini to Hugo: the Art of Brian Selznick. If you have a chance to go by the museum before September 29, don't miss it. You'll see the fine detail on his drawings and paintings and read the words of Brian himself describing where ideas came from, his inspirations and even "do overs" that worked. His words about "When Marian Sang" brought tears to my eyes.

I'm hunting down all our Selznick books when I get back to school and making sure all the students at Lakeview know what a fabulous show and:

Free admission to the Museum from July 2, 2013 to September 1, 2013. The free summer program is sponsored by Transamerica, United Fire, Built by Pros, and Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust.
