For the last three years, Dawn Posekany's Anatomy and Physiology class has read and researched a book with a medical theme and then facilitated a discussion with community members. This year, with support of the Solon Education Foundation, we are reading MOUNTAINS BEYOND MOUNTAINS by Tracy Kidder. It is the story of Paul Farmer whose mission to transform health care for the world's impoverished began in Haiti.
Today the class was fortunate to host Dr Buresh, a volunteer with Charity Health Initiative. He has been to Haiti numerous times and gave a frank, but hopeful overview of the state of health care in this small Caribbean nation.
